The Edit - Oriental Inspiration

We are still busy prototyping skinny scarves here in the Liberatti Studio and enjoying the body lengthening attributes that a skin skinny scarf affords.

This week The Edit takes black and white as a base palette and gives this expression through two key accent pieces, a b/w paisley skinny scarf paired and an Oriental inspired,  contrasting panel silk coat. The drape of the sensual silk fabrics has its counterpoint in casual footwear and the poppy mint green bag.

I love the way the elements artfully combine to culminate in a chic urban look that borrows from oriental traditions.

Sprezzatura Styling Sessions

In pursuit of Dressing the Stylish Mind (DTSM) I am fascinated by Sprezzatura so we’re starting a new series dedicated to the high art of curated tailoring and accessorizing.
Sprezza-what you say?
Perhaps when travelling to Italy or France you have witnessed the European gentleman in all his splendor, particularly those lounging about in tasseled loafers, impeccably dressed in tailored suits, pocket handkerchief draping effortlessly from the aperture?
Perhaps your version is wrapped in cashmere scarf and wearing a floral lapel button?
No matter, they are all fabulous. And what’s more, Sprezzatura isn’t only for the boys, it’s fast becoming preferred by style blazing women.
These well turned-out gentlemen are the essence of Sprezzatura –the art of looking great, effortlessly.
We are starting for the first Sprezzatura challenge with a ‘simple, clean, tailored’ look.
Nothing too difficult here DTSM friends – the inspiration - the clean cool blue, white and tangy lemon palette.
This look is clean, easy on the eye, summary and poised.
#Sprezzatura 1 Blue Jacket and Citrus accent.

Palace of Floating Dreams

In the last year a new topic has crept in to Friday night G&T sessions What if we traded in the apartment for a houseboat. Could we do that?

I've never been on-board one but seeing these two I would definitely consider a change of scene.              Right at home on the riverbank.

Best in Breed ~ The Tailor of Milan

Wearing a jacket to work every day means constantly being on the lookout for something practical and yet distinctive to update the roster. So I was gratified recently with the discovery of Blazé Milano.

Cool Summer Gucci Scarf & Scarf Rings

Liberatti Scarf Rings Gucci Edit

My ideal summer exists in the photos of Slim Aarons. Impossibly chic, languid, always liquid and brimming with optimism.  That was glorious America and Europe in the 1960′s and 70′s.

ScarfRing on Social Media

To keep you up to date with style news, products, customers and our wonderful colourful and creative world, we ‘re on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and now Instagram!
@ScarfRingGirl .  Let’s get social soon!

Style Icon~ Jean Batten

Ms. Batten, ‘the Garbo of the skies’, is the perfect embodiment of early  New Zealand pioneering spirit. Born in 1909, she began life like any other woman of the day studying piano and ballet at a posh girls school in Auckland. The lady like sensibilities fortunately ended around age 18 when she was determined to become a pilot much encourgaed by the exploits of the famous Charles Kingsford Smith. Jean took to flying ‘like a penguin to water’ and spent the 1930’s taking several long distance records from the boys, including the first ever direct flight between England and New Zealand in 1936.

Studio Notes: Wistful for Wristlets

At Liberatti Scarf Rings our studio team love to ponder the outlandish to the subtle especially, especially when it comes to  accessories that bring ‘silk’ front and center.
What’s caught our eye this week is the twist for your wrist, the Wristlet. We are enjoying seeing these in summer with a small bright skein of silk, twisted casually next to your watch or cluster of bangles, and there you have it, for a small effort – a big impact.
We have added a few colourful ideas of our own. The new Lacquer Scarf Rings (Twilly is best!) found here online, will adorn an Hermès or Liberatti scarf beautifully. This inexpensive scarf element doubles perfectly as a wrist accessory as seen above. The Pico Scarf Ring accessories likewise can be used as a wrist element bringing an unexpected metallic accent.

Styling with Pico Scarf Rings

Black is Beautiful
I love black in summer. It looks amazing with a tan and brings a little edginess in to daytime whilst feeling appealingly anonymous at the same time.

Styling Session – Denim & Hermès

This weekend, Denim, a Pico Scarf Ring and an Hermes Silk Scarf are an easy style combo for the market or cafe. The light red and deep blue colours accent each other perfectly, for a fabulous blend, and a very chic, modern look.
The Pico Scarf Ring (available now) with sporty nato strap and 18ct gold face plate, is the perfect complement for Hermes 70 or 90 cm scarves. Effortless style in a moment!

Hermès, Denim & Lemon!

Demin is a key look this season and gives us oodles of styling possibilities to dress up or down according to our daily schedule.
For our weekend style this week, we’ve put aside utilitarian demin (which we also love and follows in the next post) and chosen a feminine denim jacket with accent stitching.
We paired this with a vivid Hermès Cuirs Du Desert 90 cm scarf for a feast of colour.  A Liberatti Chunky Bamboo Scarf Ring provides an accent focus, draws the eye and ties the palette of lemon and blue together, at the same time adding a discrete touch of shine and glamour.
Colourful accessories are instantly evocative of spring and are a wonderful mood enhancer.

Scarf Rings To Go ~ The Pico

Our mantra is that Scarf Rings turn a scarf into a style statement, and Pico proves the rule. In a Pico, you’ll be prepped, primed and polished, ready to go, work or leisure.
I am so pleased with the outcome, the quality and versatility.
The gold (18ct) and silver (92.5) face plates are cast and hand polished at the Liberatti Studio and the custom made, gorgeous stripey straps come from a long time partner and premium maker to ensure they will last virtually forever! The Liberatti morning star logo is artfully stamped on the front – a reminder to look to true north and follow our hearts and principles. Pico to go!

Style Icon – Mariacarla Boscono

A sultry Roman-born beauty, Ms. Boscono is a citizen of the world, growing up in the US, Italy and in Kenya, where ‘the best life lessons were learned’.Her chameleon-like ability to completely transform her looks is impressive but not more so than a career spanning modelling acting and motherhood. As seen here, fresh faced, generously browed, and colourful in a beautiful silk headscarf, she is an exemplar of gamine sophistication.

Style Icon – Monica Bellucci

This gorgeous Umbrian born actress moves effortlessly between runway and red carpet. From the face of Dolce and Gabanna to femme fatale in The Matrix she has an irresistible allure the camera devours. We admire that Ms. Bellucci’s dark sultry witchcraft is powerful enough to overcome the most luscious and eye grabbing patterns with ease.
She was recently chosen to play opposite Daniel Craig in Spectre due out 2015 – (at 50 years that makes her the oldest Bond Girl ever) proving true glamour is always in demand.

Style Icon – Anjelica Huston

A striking woman, talented actress and daughter of legendary film Director John Huston, Ms. Huston is the embodiment of great strength and great taste. With the possible exception of her choice in men.
Can it be called luck that her first ever Hollywood party lead to an introduction to none other than host Jack Nicholson. Their relationship lasted 17 turbulent years and despite heroic stoicism did not result in a wedding ring or sashay down the aisle.
Leaning towards an arty bohemian dress sense Ms. Huston cuts a striking figure, often with a scarf elegantly draped over one shoulder and bold statement necklace.
This statuesque beauty offers sartorial inspiration, yet her intensity is surely unrepeatable.

The Edit – Pattern Mixing

This week for The Edit, we celebrate pattern mixing. Pairing prints with similar pattern shapes i.e. leopard and polka dots or spots, can add variety and depth to your wardrobe while affording more possibilities for matching scarves.  The three simple and from my research best pattern mixing rules are:
1. Vary the scale of the patternsWearing medium/large with small patterns creates balance.
Mixing various sizes of patterns can also add more volume to parts of your body that need more of it, and helps with balancing out your silhouette!
So if your hips need more oomph amp up on top with bigger prints.
2. Pair patterns and textures that won’t compete with each other. Wearing two super-bold patterns will cancel each other out in a wall of print. Instead, combine a large floral skirt with a versatile two-tone striped top. That’s the principle.
3.  Draw your patterns from the same color family or, alternatively tie the two base colours together with statement accessories. Iris Apfel, one of our beloved Style Icons, does this expertly.
Pattern up this week and have fun X.   @scarfringgirl

The Edit ~ Scarf Ring Loves Francoise Gilot

Painter, lover and artistic muse of Pablo Picasso from 1944 to 1953, mother of his children, Claude Picasso and Paloma Picasso and the only woman to have loved and left him.
Gilot was a pioneer of pattern, an accomplished aesthete at ease with mixing colour, form and tribal art influences. It is the irrepressible spirit of Gilot, her independence and brazen artistic vision that we celebrate ‘as a women of style and substance’.
The Liberatti Scarf Ring team has enjoyed pattern play this week with Stripes, Spots and the new Pico Scarf Ring!!
Our manifesto is to illustrate how Scarf Rings turn style into your personal story.

The Edit - Silk Scarf Tying

Hit Refresh! Amy gives a classic LBD a  seasonal update with a pop of colour at the waist and the effect is chic, modern and with the flower in her hair, definitely aloha Pacific Princess. In the mood for sea, sand and summer …we are!

So this week  - why not try a scarf worn as a belt with a dress or jeans, or slide on a Scarf Ring ..and let the tropical mood overtake you!
Enjoy a fabulous week, and have fun!

Style Icon – Iris Apfel

Liberatti Scarf Rings Style Icon Iris Apfel
Scarf Ring Style Icon ~ Iris Apfel
This week we take a look into one of our Liberatti Scarf Rings all time favourite Style Icons as we celebrate women of substance and character. The irrepressible Iris Apfel.

Mrs. Apfel is an ever changing canvas where art meets fashion for a big day out. She draws from a lifelong passion of hunting and collecting, designing and curating —from haute accessories to art and textiles, and delights us with a splendidly unconventional look each day.
Her most famous style advice: “Personal style is attitude, attitude, attitude.  You have to be you!  If you’re happy, that’s the most important thing”
